The following incident occurred on January 31, 2013:

 

MV Crash:

At 8:53 a.m., Anne M. Mason,  51, Freeport, IL, was travelling north on STH 69, north of Hefty Road, Town of New Glarus, when she lost control of her vehicle, went off the right side of the road, and into the ditch.  Mason was not injured, reported wearing her belt and there was no airbag deployment.  Her vehicle received minor undercarriage damage from frozen snow.  It was towed from the ditch and then driven from the scene.  Contributing factor was weather conditions.

 

MV Crash:

At 9:14 a.m., Deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident that occurred on CTH S, north of Preston Road, Jefferson Township.  Shirley J. Andrews, 76, of Juda, was traveling north on CTH S when Andrews lost control of her vehicle on the ice-covered road, slid off the east side of the road, and struck a mailbox. Andrews was not injured in the accident and was wearing a seat belt. No airbags were deployed in her vehicle.  Andrews' vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

 

MV Crash:

At 1:58 p.m., Deputies were called to the area of CTH C, near Marshall Bluff Road, in Mt. Pleasant Township, for a report of a motor vehicle crash.   Jason A. Thomas, 33, of Darlington, was eastbound on CTH C when he lost control on the icy roadway and then left the road, striking a fence, causing minor front-end damage to his vehicle.  No injury, seatbelt worn, no airbag deployment and vehicle towed from the scene.

 

MV Crash:

At 2:23 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to investigate a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of STH 59 and Ladwig Road, Sylvester Township.  Investigation revealed that a garbage truck, driven by Joseph J. Graves, 47, of Monroe, was traveling east on STH 59 and was starting to turn north onto Ladwig Road when a pickup truck, driven by Michael C. Perrin, 42, of Albany, attempted to overtake the garbage truck on the left and the two vehicles collided.  The pickup truck went off the north side of the roadway and struck a utility pole and an embankment.  Graves was not injured in the accident and was wearing a seat belt.  No airbags were deployed on the truck he was driving.  Perrin reported being injured in the accident and was transported by Monroe EMS to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for treatment.  Perrin was wearing a seat belt and no air bags were deployed on the pickup he was driving.  A passenger in the pickup was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. The garbage truck involved in the accident sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.  The pickup that Perrin was driving sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

 

MV Crash:

At 4:39 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Clarno Road, north of Melvin Road.  Dale A. Isely, 41, of Monroe, stated he lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway.   His vehicle left the road on the east side, went down an embankment and overturned.  Isely was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Monroe Clinic ER.  The vehicle sustained severe damage to the vehicle, seatbelt used and no airbag deployment.  Vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

MV Crash:

At 8:19 p.m., Deputies, along with Albany Fire and EMS, responded to a one-vehicle crash on CTH F, north of Decatur Albany Road, Town of Albany.  Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Michael S. Porterfield, 43, of Evansville, was northbound on CTH F when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve. The vehicle entered the ditch backwards, colliding with an embankment.  Porterfield sustained injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.  His seatbelt was not used and the airbag did not deploy.  The vehicle sustained moderate rear damage and was towed from the scene.  Porterfield was cited for the Mandatory Seatbelt Violation and released pending court.  Contributing factors for the crash are snow and ice-covered roadway.

 

MV Crash – Traffic Arrest:

At 9:51 p.m., Deputies responded to the intersection of CTH B, at Mellenberger Road, Cadiz Township, for a vehicle crash.   Investigation revealed that Jodi L. Simons, 44, of Freeport, IL, was eastbound on CTH B when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions. The vehicle then traveled across the westbound lane, struck a snow bank on the east side of Mellenberger Road, spun around and rolled onto its driver side where it came to rest.  Simons was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. A passenger in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. The vehicle sustained minor driver-side damage with no airbag deployment and will be removed from the scene later.   The owner of the vehicle, Desiree M. Ewinger, 45, of Freeport, IL, came to the scene and was subsequently cited for Operating After Suspension and released pending court.
