February 06, 2013:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on February 5, 2013:

At 11:44 AM, Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of CTH C and CTH X, in the Town of Brooklyn.  The investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by PATRICK L. WHALEN, 60, of Darlington, was negotiating a curve when he lost control due to slippery roads.  WHALEN left the road and struck several road signs before coming to rest in the ditch line.  WHALEN was not injured, was wearing his seatbelt, and the air bags did not deploy.  WHALEN’s vehicle received minor damage, was towed out of the ditch, and was then driven from the scene.

At 4:27 PM, Deputies, along with the Monroe Fire Department, Green County EMS, and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in the N1400 block of STH 69, in the Town of Clarno.  The investigation revealed that a car driven by NATLIA A. KLIMATOVA, 47, of Orangeville, IL, was traveling south on STH 69.  KLIMATOVA began to slow for the car in front of her, who was also slowing down.  KLIMATOVA lost control due to the road conditions and entered the northbound lane of STH 69.  A northbound vehicle driven by MARY L. WISE, 41, of Freeport, IL, attempted to avoid being struck by KLIMATOVA, but was unable.  KLIMATOVA sideswiped WISE’s vehicle, causing severe damage to both vehicles.  KLIMATOVA and a passenger were wearing their seatbelts, were not injured, and the airbags did deploy.  WISE and passengers in her vehicle were wearing their seatbelts and were transported to the Monroe Clinic E.R. for non-life-threatening injuries.  WISE’s airbags also were deployed.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene and KLIMATOVA was cited for Failure to Maintain Control a Motor Vehicle and was given a future court date.

At 4:47 PM, Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash in the N6800 block of CTH N, in the Town of Washington.  A truck driven by THOMAS A. HILLIARD, 51, of Monticello, was driving north on CTH N when he crossed the centerline and began to pull next to his mailbox.  A southbound vehicle driven by ANDREW P. BOHLMAN, 21, of Argyle, observed HILLIARD cross the center line.  BOHLMAN swerved to avoid being struck and saw another northbound vehicle.  BOHLMAN swerved back towards his lane of travel and entered the ditch line, striking the ditch and a snow bank.  BOHLMAN was not injured, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy.  HILLIARD assisted BOHLMAN in pulling his vehicle out of the ditch.  BOHLMAN’s vehicle received minor damage and was driven from the scene.
