February 25, 2013:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on February 24, 2013:

MV Crash:

At 5:08 p.m., Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on STH 11, at CTH S, in the Township of Jefferson.  A vehicle driven by Harold L. Hawkins, 67, of Beloit, was traveling eastbound when a vehicle driven by Anthony J. Lewis, 27, of Monticello, pulled from a stop sign into the path of Hawkins' vehicle.  Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene.  Lewis, Hawkins and their passengers reported seatbelt usage and no injuries.  Lewis's vehicle had no airbag deployment. Hawkins's vehicle had full airbag deployment.  Anthony Lewis was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way from Stop Sign and released pending court.

 

MV Crash:

At 7:38 p.m., Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash on STH 81, west of CTH J, Town of Monroe.  Investigation revealed a vehicle operated by Tyler J. Richards, 17, of Monroe, was eastbound on STH 81 when he failed to maintain control while negotiating a curve.  Richards entered the north ditch, sliding sideways through two utility boxes.  Richards was not injured, his seatbelt was used, and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle sustained moderate passenger side and front end damage.  It was towed from the scene.  Richards was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle and released pending court.
