The following incidents occurred on March 12, 2013:
Vehicle vs. Deer Crash:
At 5:22 A.M., a Deputy responded to CTH E at CTH C, Town of Brooklyn, for a vehicle vs. deer crash. Investigation revealed Robert J. Pryce, age 33, of Albany, was northbound when a deer entered the roadway and collided with his vehicle. Pryce advised he was wearing his safety belt and was uninjured. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The airbags did not deploy.
At 5:30 A.M., Deputies, along with Evansville Police, Fire and EMS, responded to the N7600 block of STH 104, Town of Brooklyn, for a one-vehicle rollover crash. Barbara A. Halvensleben, age 53, of Evansville, was northbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow/ice-covered roadway. The vehicle entered the west ditch, overturned and came to a rest on its side. Halvensleben advised she was wearing her safety belt and was uninjured. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.
At 6:13 A.M., Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on STH 69, just north of Cemetery Road, Town of Mount Pleasant. Heidi L. Wing, age 50, of Monticello, was traveling northbound when she hit a patch of ice on the road. Wing applied her brakes and lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle crossed the southbound lane and entered the west ditch. The vehicle struck the ditch and came to rest. Wing advised she was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene after being removed from the ditch by a tow service.
At 4:53 P.M., Deputies and Monroe Fire responded to the W6400 block of STH 11, Town of Monroe, for a vehicle fire. Investigation revealed a vehicle driven by Craig L. Bevins, age 40, of South Wayne, was westbound on STH 11 when Bevins noticed smoke and flames coming from under the hood. Bevins was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and extinguish the fire. The vehicle received moderate damage and Bevins was not injured.
At 5:55 P.M., Deputies responded to the W1500 block of CTH F, Town of Decatur, for a motor vehicle crash.
Investigation revealed a vehicle operated by Sierra A. Haberman , age 18, of Brodhead, was eastbound on CTH F when she reported a westbound vehicle was operating partially in the eastbound lane of travel. Haberman took evasive action to avoid a collision, entered the south ditch where the vehicle struck a snow bank and came to rest. Haberman advised she was not injured and was wearing her seatbelt. There was no airbag deployment in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene. The second vehicle was not located.
At 6:22 P.M., Deputies, along with Albany Police, responded to the N7400 block of CTH E, Town of Brooklyn, for a one-vehicle rollover crash. Investigation revealed Chad A. Helland, age 17, of Brooklyn, was northbound on CTH E, negotiating a curve, when he lost control due to the ice-covered roadway. Helland traveled across both lanes and entered the west ditch, where his vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof. The vehicle sustained severe damage, with no airbag deployment. It was towed from the scene. Helland advised he was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
