March 25, 2013:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2013:



At 2:10 AM, Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the 2100 block of 13th Street, City of Monroe.  Investigation resulted in Nathan K. Rufener, 20, of Monroe, being arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, 3rd Offense.  Rufener was cited for Throwing Solid Waste from a Vehicle (Littering). He was jailed pending bond or court.



At 3:08 AM, Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash at a residence in the N2200 block of Twin Grove Road, Town of Jefferson.  Preliminary investigation revealed that pickup truck was northbound on Twin Grove Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve.  The truck entered the yard of the residence where it collided with a snowmobile.  The truck fled the scene northbound on Twin Grove Road.  The snowmobile sustained severe damage.  The crash remains under investigation.  Anybody with information related to this crash is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department or Green County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-I-C-CRIME.



At 4:27 AM, Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on CTH S, at STH 59, Town of Sylvester.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling northbound on CTH S failed to stop at the stop sign, traveling through the intersection.  The vehicle became stuck in the ditch and the driver fled the scene.  The vehicle sustained minor front-end damage and was impounded.  Deputies made contact with the driver, Timothy S. Miller, 26, of Brodhead, later in the day.  Miller admitted to being intoxicated at the time of the crash and receiving a ride from the crash.  Miller was not injured, his seatbelt was used, and the airbag did not deploy.  Miller was subsequently cited for Operating After Revocation (criminal), Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, Failure to Wear Seatbelt and Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Crash.  Miller was released pending court.


Drug/Narcotic Arrest:

At 6:41 PM, Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the N8000 block of STH 104, Town of Brooklyn.  Investigation into the stop resulted in the driver Caleb Z. Lyle, 20, of Albany, being cited for Speeding and Operating a Motor Vehicle with no Proof of Insurance.  During the course of the traffic stop, Deputies summoned the assistance of the Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.  This resulted in Deputies locating several items of drug paraphernalia used to inject heroin.  Lyle was subsequently arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was booked into jail pending bond or court.
