May 17, 2013: Man dies in early morning Green County crash
On Friday, May 17th, 2013, at 6:22 a.m., the Green County Sheriff's Department communication center received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Skinner Hollow Road, approximately .8 mile north of Rothenbuehler Road, in Jordan Township. The vehicle was discovered on it's top with one occupant inside. Green County Deputies, along with Green County EMS and Browntown Fire Department personnel, were sent to the scene. Upon their arrival, Deputies found that the lone male occupant was deceased and Green County Coroner Kris Hasse responded to the crash scene.
Initial investigation indicates that the driver, a 27-year-old Monroe man, was northbound on Skinner Hollow Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, overturned, and came to rest on it's top. The vehicle, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am 2-door, sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was not wearing a safety belt and Speed Too Fast for Conditions appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The name of the driver is currently being withheld pending notification of family members. This is Green County's second traffic fatality in 2013.
The individual killed in the crash has been identified as Jeremy A. Kainz, age 27, last known address in Monroe. Alcohol is suspected as being an additional contributing factor in the crash.
