The following incident occurred on September 1, 2013:
OWI 3rd Arrest:
At 11:35 p.m., Deputies and the Albany PD responded to a traffic complaint of an erratic driver on STH 104, near CTH C, in the Town of Brooklyn. The offender's vehicle was located on STH 59, near Peebles Road, in the Town of Albany. The driver, Charmae L. Grattan, 38, of Brodhead, was arrested for 3rd Offense OWI. Grattan was jailed pending bond or court.
The following incidents occurred on September 2, 2013:
At 2:05 a.m., Deputies and the Monticello Fire Dept. responded to a vehicle crash in the W4600 Block of Exeter Crossing Road in the Town of Exeter. Investigation determined that Evan J. Christen, age 18, of Belleville, was traveling east on Exeter Crossing Road, west of Marshall Bluff Road when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. The vehicle entered the south ditch. Christen overcorrected which caused the vehicle to cross the road and enter the north ditch, where it came to rest facing south. Christen reported wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Following the crash, Christen left the scene on foot. Christen’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the underbody, causing a fuel leak. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Christen was subsequently arrested for violating the Absolute Sobriety Law, cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Motor Vehicle Crash. Christen was released pending court.
At 12:19 p.m., Deputies, along with Brodhead EMS, Fire, and Police Department, responded to the intersection of STH 81, at CTH T, in Spring Grove Township, for a car vs. motorcycle crash. Tracey J. Merrell, 49, from Durand, IL, was stopped at the stop sign on CTH T going southbound and then pulled into the path of an eastbound motorcycle. The cycle was operated by Victor Manuel Sarti, 42, from Countryside, IL. Sarti struck the right front quarter panel of Merrell's vehicle and was ejected, landed on the hood of Merrell's vehicle then rolled onto the ground. Sarti was wearing a helmet and face mask. Sarti was transported to a Hospital for non-life threatening injuries by EMS. Merrell was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a stop sign and released pending court.
At 2:39 p.m., Deputies responded to the W6600 block of CTH Y, in the Town Monroe, for a vehicle vs. deer crash with no injuries. Richard P. Kipp, 75, of Argyle, was driving west on CTH Y when a deer crossed into his path and struck the front end of his vehicle. Kipp was not injured, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
