October 08, 2013: 6th Green County Fatality Crash
On 10-7-2013, at approximately 5:41p.m., the Sheriff's Department was alerted to a Motor Vehicle Crash on STH 59, at Broughton Road. An investigation revealed that a pick-up truck travelling west at this location crossed over the centerline and impacted with a mini-van that was travelling east. Both vehicles sustained very severe damage. The driver of the pick-up truck was identified as Trevor J. McGuire, 21 years old, from Monroe. Trevor had one adult passenger in his vehicle. Trevor was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries, his passenger had minor injuries, and refused treatment or transport. The mini-van was driven by Matthew I. Iverson, 35 years old, from Stoughton. Matthew had 3 child passengers, ages 7, 10, and 13 years. The 10-year-old passenger in Matthew's vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained due to impact. Matthew was transported by medical helicopter to UW Hospital for life-threatening injuries and the other children by ambulance for minor injuries. All persons involved in this crash were wearing seatbelts. An investigation revealed that Trevor McGuire had been consuming alcohol prior to the crash. Trevor McGuire was arrested, and after being released from the hospital, was taken to jail where he has been charged with Reckless Driving and Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle. Speed, Reckless Driving, and Alcohol appear to be factors in this crash. Several emergency service agencies responded to this incident.
This is Green County's 6th Fatality Crash of 2013.
