The following incidents occurred on November 27, 2013:
At 1:20 A.M., Deputies stopped Chad J Nicks, 38, Northbrook, IL, for speeding on CTH K, .1 mile east of Montgomery Rd., Jefferson Township. Nicks was arrested for 2nd Offense Operating While Under the Influence. Nicks was released pending court.
MV Crash/Drug Arrest:
At 6:07 A.M., Deputies were called to N3400 Balls Mill Road, in Sylvester Township, for a vehicle in the ditch. Investigation revealed that Jason Patrick Downs, 40, Monroe, was northbound when he lost control on the icy roadway and spun into a tree, coming to rest in the ditch line. Downs advised the crash occurred around 3 A.M. Downs reported wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured. There was no air bag deployment. The vehicle sustained moderate driver's-side damage and was towed from the scene. Downs was arrested for Possession of THC, cited for Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Accident and Operating Too Fast for Conditions. Downs was released pending court.
At 6:29 A.M., Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash in the W9600 Block of STH 39, Town of York. Patricia R. Jenkins Bock, age 50, Platteville, and her passenger were traveling west when a deer collided with the front of their vehicle. Bock and her passenger reported wearing their seatbelts and were not injured in the collision. Bock's vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front. Patricia was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. There was no air bag deployment.
At 2:32 P.M., Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash in the W3100 block of High School Road, in the Town of Jefferson. The driver, Chase M. Pollansky, 17, Juda, was negotiating a curve, driving west on High School Road, lost control on the ice-covered roadway, and entered the south ditch, striking a tree. Pollansky and his passenger were not injured, were wearing their seatbelts, and the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle received minor passenger-side damage and was towed from the scene.
At 5:38 P.M., Brett E. Norman, 26, Brodhead, was going southbound in the N2700 block of CTH S, in the Town of Sylvester, when a deer collided with his vehicle. The driver was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. There was no airbag deployment. The car received moderate damage and was driven from the scene by the operator.
