The following incidents occurred on December 1, 2013:
At 6:00 a.m., Deputies were dispatched to the N4200 block of CTH N, Town of Monroe, for a report of a pickup truck vs. deer accident. Michael D. Strothman, 41, of Monroe, was traveling northbound on CTH N, south of Vogel Road, when a deer entered the roadway and collided with his vehicle. Strothman and his passenger advised they had no injuries and were wearing their seat belts. Strothman's vehicle received minor front-end damage in the accident, the air bags did not deploy, and it was driven from the scene.
At 9:59 a.m., Deputies were called to the location in the N1100 Block of Woodman Road, in the Town of Clarno, for a hunter trespassing. The subject was identified as Mark D Peterson, 50, Monroe, and he was cited for Trespassing to Land and released pending court.
At 3:44 p.m., while on patrol, Deputies observed a vehicle operating the wrong way, traveling eastbound on the westbound off-ramp to 6th Avenue West in Monroe Township. The vehicle continued to operate toward oncoming traffic, forcing several vehicles off the ramp and onto the shoulder to avoid a collision. The vehicle was stopped and the operator of the vehicle, Jose Manuel Vasquez Rondon, 52, of Marengo, IL, was cited for Operating the Wrong Way on a Divided Highway and released pending court.
At 4:43 p.m., Deputy Charlie R. Worm, of the Green County Sheriff Dept., was operating a squad car on CTH W, approaching Elmer Road, in the Village of New Glarus, when a deer jumped the north guardrail and collided with the squad car. There was no injury, the seatbelt was used, and airbags did not deploy. The squad car received minor damage to the front bush bumper and to the hood. The squad was driven from the scene. NGPD investigated the crash.
At 4:55 p.m., Deputies responded to the N4000 block of CTH J, in Monroe Township, for two vehicle vs. deer crashes. Anthony B. Gardner, 50, of Blanchardville, and Blake A. Bast, 17, of Monroe, both operating separate motor vehicles, were northbound on CTH J when multiple deer entered the roadway. Gardner and Bast each collided with a deer. Bast’s vehicle sustained severe front-end damage with no airbag deployment. Bast was properly restrained and was uninjured. Bast's vehicle was later driven from the scene. Gardner’s vehicle sustained severe front-end and passenger-side damage with no airbag deployment. Gardner and his five passengers were all properly restrained and were uninjured. Gardner's vehicle was later towed from the scene.
At 8:05 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to the N2200 block of Asmus Road, Clarno Township, for two suspicious subjects walking southbound in that area. Deputies located the two subjects walking back towards the city. The subjects stated they were walking to town. One subject, Nathan R. M. Sweet, 21, Monroe, was arrested on a Green County warrant for Failure to Appear and a Rock County warrant for Failure to Pay Fine. Sweet was jailed pending court and bond.
