January 17, 2014:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on January 16, 2014:

MV Crash:
At 3:29 p.m., Deputies, Monroe Fire and Monroe EMS responded to STH 59, near Monroe-Sylvester Road, in the Town of Monroe, for a motor vehicle crash. Frank Lynn Jr., 46, of Edgerton, was southbound on STH 59, negotiating the curve by Monroe-Sylvester Road, when he lost control on the snow and ice-covered roadway. Lynn Jr. struck a vehicle driven by Tracey L. Reich, 43, of Monroe, who was driving north on STH 59, approaching Monroe-Sylvester Road. Lynn Jr. and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts. Lynn Jr.'s passenger was extricated from the vehicle.  Both Lynn Jr. and his passenger were transported to the Monroe E.R. by Monroe EMS. The airbags deployed in the Lynn Jr. vehicle. Reich was wearing her seatbelt and the airbags deployed. Reich was transported to Monroe E.R. by Monroe EMS. Both vehicles received severe front-end damage and were towed from the scene.
 
Lynn Jr. will be cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Driver’s License.
 
MV Crash:
At 3:47 p.m., Deputies responded to a vehicle crash on Feldt Road, south of Witt Road, in Sylvester Township. Derek J. Myhand, 30, of Monticello, was southbound on Feldt Road when he states he heard a pop come from the front part of his truck. Myhand lost control of his truck and hit a tree. Myhand was not injured in the crash and was wearing his seat belt. The air bags did not deploy in the truck. The ice-covered road was a factor in the crash. There was severe damage to the truck and the truck was towed from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 5:55 p.m., Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on STH 11, east of Smock Valley Road, in Monroe Township. Tanner J. Schiferl, 18, of South Wayne, was westbound on STH 11 when he lost control of his truck on the ice/snow-covered roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a traffic sign. Schiferl was wearing his seat belt and the air bags did not deploy. Schiferl was not injured in the crash. Schiferl had minor damage to his truck and he was able to drive it from the scene.
 
MV Crash / OWI:
At 9:29 p.m., Deputies, Monroe Fire, and Monroe EMS responded to a vehicle rollover crash on STH 81, north of CTH J, in Monroe Township. Matthew M. Putz, 20, of Monroe, was southbound on STH 81 when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the south ditch. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its roof.  Putz was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the Monroe Fire Dept. Putz was transported by Monroe EMS to the Monroe ER. Putz was wearing his seat belt and the air bags did not deploy in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe damage to it and was towed from the scene.  Putz was arrested for 1st Offense Operating While Under the Influence and cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions.  Putz was released pending court.
 
MV Crash:
At 10:28 p.m., Deputies, along with New Glarus Fire, EMS and Police, responded to a vehicle crash on STH 39, near Durst Road, Town of New Glarus. Investigation revealed a vehicle operated by Trevor A. Moen, 18, of New Glarus, was westbound on STH 39 when Moen lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve, entered the ditch and overturned. Moen sustained injuries and was transported to Meriter Hospital by EMS, his seatbelt was used, and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle sustained moderate overall damage and was towed from the scene. Slippery road conditions are a contributing factor to the crash.
