January 31, 2014:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on January 30, 2014:

Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 6:30 a.m., Julia Rita Magellan, 20, Monroe, collided with a deer on CTH Y in the W7600 Block, Town of Jordan. There was minor damage to the vehicle, no injury, seatbelt used and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the ditch and it was driven from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 1:01 p.m., Deputies responded to 700 Vine Street, in the Village of Albany, for a motor vehicle crash. A Green County Highway truck driven by Alvin W. Wald, 64, of Monroe, was clearing the snow on the intersection of STH 59 and Vine Street.  Wald was “winging” the snow, spreading lime chips and was backing up. A pickup truck had stopped behind the Highway truck driven by Diane L. Sedbrook, 56, of Brodhead. Sedbrook stated the highway truck was backing toward her and she "gunned" her truck forward to get by the highway truck when the wing of the highway truck sideswiped her truck. There was minor to moderate left-rear-side damage to the Sedbrook vehicle and no apparent damage to the Highway Dept. truck. There was no injury or no airbag deployment.
 
MV Crash:
At 2:26 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to investigate a one-vehicle rollover accident with injuries that occurred on STH 11, east of Hiltbrand Lane, Sylvester Township. Monroe EMS and Juda First Response Units were also alerted to respond. A pickup truck, driven by Markus J. Bronkema, 26, of Dakota, IL, was traveling east on STH 11 when he lost control and slid north into the median. The pickup slid through the median and came back onto the westbound lanes; then overturned. Bronkema sustained injuries and was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital by Monroe EMS for treatment of his injuries. Bronkema was wearing a seatbelt and no airbag was deployed. The pickup involved in the accident sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 4:19 p.m., while Deputies were checking on vehicles in the ditch located at W6900 STH 11 in the Town of Clarno, a vehicle operated by Shirley A. Tullis, 55, Monroe, went to slow down due to the vehicles in the ditch and the Sheriff Department squad car in the area. Her vehicle then started to slide on the icy road and struck a truck parked on the shoulder of the roadway owned by Troy R. Stauffer, 23, South Wayne. Her vehicle continued to slide and then struck a vehicle in the ditch owned by Donald J. Henderson, 28, Stockton, IL.  No-one was injured and all were wearing seatbelts. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicles received minor to moderate damage. The operators were able to drive the vehicles from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 4:23 p.m., Deputies and Brooklyn Fire/EMS, were dispatched to the area of STH 104 at Amidon Road, Brooklyn Township, for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. Julie A. Speropulos, 45, of Evansville, was traveling south on STH 104 when she was slowing for traffic. A vehicle operated by, Jennifer E. Cote, 36, of Evansville, was traveling southbound as well and slowing for traffic, but slid on the ice-covered road into the back of the Speropulos vehicle. Speropulos advised she was wearing her seatbelt and sustained an injury, but declined EMS transport. There was no airbag deployment in the vehicle. The vehicle did not sustain any apparent damage and was driven from the scene. Cote advised she was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. There was no airbag deployment in the vehicle. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle and it was driven from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 5:21 p.m., Deputies came across a rollover crash at W4600 STH 11, in the Town of Sylvester. A car operated by Marie A. Swedlund, 58, Monroe, was going eastbound when a car ahead of her applied its brakes. Swedlund then applied her brakes, causing her vehicle to swerve on the ice and snow on the road. Swedlund went into the median where her car rolled once and came to a rest on its wheels. The occupants in the vehicle were not injured and were wearing their seatbelts. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 5:30 p.m., Deputies responded to the N6000 block of STH 69, in Mt. Pleasant Township, for a single vehicle crash. Douglas L. Wilder, 63, of Loves Park, IL, was northbound on STH 69 when the vehicle he was following suddenly braked. Wilder took evasive action to avoid a collision and lost control of his vehicle.  Wilder entered the west ditch where his vehicle struck a snow bank and came to rest. Wilder was the lone vehicle occupant, was properly restrained, and was uninjured. Wilder’s vehicle sustained moderate damage, with no airbag deployment, and was driven from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 5:53 p.m., Deputies, along with the New Glarus Fire Department and New Glarus EMS, responded to the N9200 block of STH 69, north of Windmill Ridge Road, in New Glarus Township, for a single vehicle rollover crash with injuries.  Garrett Thomas Wussow, 18, of Fitchburg, was northbound on STH 69 when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered roadway.  The vehicle slid into the east gravel shoulder, where it struck the snow-filled ditch and overturned one time, coming to rest on its wheels. Wussow was the lone vehicle occupant, was properly restrained, and reported injuries. Wussow was transported by New Glarus EMS to St Mary's Hospital in Madison for treatment. Wussow’s vehicle sustained moderate damage to numerous areas, there was no airbag deployment, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 6:29 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to the N5800 block of STH 69, Washington Township, for a one-vehicle accident with no injuries being reported. Traci L. Pickett, 51, of Monroe, was traveling north on STH 69 when she lost control on the snow/ice-covered roadway. Pickett advised she attempted to correct the vehicle, but took evasive action to avoid striking a bridge guardrail and entered the ditch. The vehicle then traveled several feet before coming to rest. Pickett advised she was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. There was no airbag deployment in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
 
MV Crash:
At 7:08 p.m., The New Glarus Police Department assisted the Green County Sheriff's Department in handling a vehicle vs. deer crash on Tunnel Road, near Exeter Crossing Road, in the Town of Exeter.  William F. Hustad, 68, Monticello, collided with a deer, which caused moderate vehicle damage. Hustad was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
 
Vehicles in the Ditch:
Deputies responded to 17 Vehicles in the Ditch in various locations in the County to assist the occupants.
