February 17, 2014:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on February 16, 2014:

Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 1:13 a.m., Deputies responded to a car vs. deer collision in the N8100 Block of Tunnel Road, in the Town of Exeter. Nathan D. Gabel, age 21, and his passenger, both of New Glarus, were traveling south on Tunnel Road, south of Exeter Road, when a deer collided with the vehicle. There were no injuries, seatbelts were used, and there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front-passenger-side quarter panel and was driven from the scene.
 
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 2:12 a.m., Green County Deputies, New Glarus Police, Monroe EMS and Fire Department responded to a vehicle vs. guardrail crash in the N3900 block of STH 69, Town of Monroe. Investigation revealed Eric J. Davis, age 39, of Monroe, was southbound on STH 69 when he fell asleep. His vehicle drifted onto the west shoulder and collided head on with a guardrail end. The vehicle rolled onto its top in the ditch, then onto its passenger side. The vehicle slid down a steep embankment and came to rest. Davis was wearing a seatbelt and sustained injuries in the crash. Front seat passenger, Dennis E. Beutel, age 43, of Monroe, was wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries in the crash, and had to be extricated from the vehicle. A back seat passenger, Dustin Ethridge, age 30, of Monroe, was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained injuries in the crash. All three occupants were transported by EMS to the Monroe Clinic Hospital Emergency Room for treatment. The vehicle sustained very severe damage, with airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. The guardrail sustained severe damage. Davis was cited for Inattentive Driving. Ethridge was cited for Failure to Wear a Seatbelt-Passenger. Both were released pending court.
 
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 4:30 a.m., Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on CTH M, at Hale Road, Town of Cadiz. Investigation revealed Samuel A. Martinez, age 27, of McConnell, IL, was southbound on CTH M when he failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle left the south side of the road, traveled down an embankment and collided with the ditch. Samuel and his passenger left the scene, but were later contacted by phone. The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on February 15, 2014. Neither person was injured and both reported seatbelt usage. The vehicle sustained moderate damage with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Martinez was cited for Too Fast for Conditions and released pending court.
 
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 11:27 a.m., Deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Honey Creek Road, south of CTH B, Clarno Township.  Investigation revealed that a pickup truck driven by Mitchell A. Austin, 28, of Monroe, was traveling south on Honey Creek Road when a pickup truck, driven by Vance C. Hartwig, 40, of Monroe, was driving east from a private driveway and pulled out onto Honey Creek Road, into the path of Austin's vehicle, and the two vehicles collided. Austin and his passenger; were not injured in the accident. Safety restraints were used, no air bags were deployed in the vehicle and the pickup sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Hartwig was not injured in the accident and was wearing a seat belt. No air bags were deployed in his vehicle. Hartwig's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Hartwig was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance.
 
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 3:42 p.m., Deputies responded to a rollover crash in the N4100 block of CTH N, in the Town of Monroe. An SUV driven by Derek L. McDonald, 24, New Glarus, was going northbound when the driver stated he struck an icy patch on the road edge. The vehicle started to slide and went into the west ditch, where it rolled and came to a rest onto its wheels. The occupants were not injured and were wearing seatbelts. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed from the scene. McDonald was cited for Operate with a Suspended Driver’s License and Failure to Keep Motor Vehicle under Control   McDonald was released pending court.
