March 29, 2014:  Daily News Release

The following incident occurred on March 28, 2014: 

Traffic Crash:
At 6:02 P.M., Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash in the N4500 block of CTH E, Town of Decatur. 
Investigation revealed Trevor A. Collins, age 17, of Brodhead, was northbound on CTH E when he lost control while negotiating a sharp curve and started to slide across the road. Another northbound vehicle, operated by Joseph D. Becherer, age 18, of Brodhead, was following CollinsBecherer stated he tried to brake, but was unable to do so.  Becherer stated he then tried to pass Collins and the vehicles collided.  No injuries were reported and seatbelts were worn. There was no airbag deployment in either vehicle.  Becherer’s vehicle received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.  Collins’ vehicle received severe damage and was driven from the scene.  Collins was cited for Failure to have Motor Vehicle under Control.  Becherer was cited for Following Too Close.  After the collision, Chase A. Klemm, age 18, of Brodhead, caused a disturbance and was cited for Disorderly Conduct. All subjects were released pending court.
