The following incidents occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2014:
MV Crash – Injury:
At 8:33 PM, Deputies, along with Brooklyn Fire Department and Brooklyn EMS, responded to the W1600 block of Mortensen Road, in Brooklyn Township, for a single vehicle crash with injuries.
Investigation revealed that a vehicle, operated by Ryan C. Arndt, 20, Brooklyn, was westbound on Mortensen Road when he took evasive action to avoid a group of deer in the roadway. Arndt struck one of the deer and lost control of his vehicle. As he entered the north gravel shoulder, Arndt overcorrected and re-entered the roadway, where he began to slide sideways. The vehicle continued westbound, where it entered the north ditch and overturned several times, coming to rest on its side.
The vehicle sustained severe over all damage with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Arndt reported wearing his seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Arndt was warned for Failure to Maintain Control and No Proof of Insurance.
At 9:30 PM, Deputies responded to a traffic complaint that occurred in the Towns of Exeter and New Glarus. While responding, Deputies were advised the vehicle crashed into the ditch on STH 92, near Dohm Drive, Town of Exeter, and the vehicle continued driving. Deputies subsequently located and stopped the vehicle.
Investigation resulted in the driver, Millicent L. Maystack-Schlueter, 24, Madison, being arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (Drugs). Maystack-Schlueter was cited for Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana (less then 25 grams). Maystack-Schlueter was released to a responsible party pending court.
Maystack-Schlueter was not injured as a result of the crash, her seatbelt was used, and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage. The Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit assisted with the investigation.
MV Crash – Car vs. Deer:
At 10:01 PM, Deputies responded to a car vs deer crash that occurred in the N6000 block of CTH E, Albany Township. A vehicle operated by Laurie L. Kuebli, 51, Albany, was traveling north on CTH E when a deer entered the roadway and collided with her vehicle. Kuebli reported wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained moderate driver’s side damage and was driven from the scene. Albany PD assisted at the scene.
