The following incidents occurred on July 19, 2014:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 4:48 AM, Deputies responded to a vehicle crash in the W4500 Block of Wittenwyler Road, in the Town of Mount Pleasant. Ronald F. Ray, age 46, of Darlington, was traveling west on Wittenwyler Road when he entered the north ditch after failing to negotiate a curve, stating he swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle collided with a rocky portion of the ditch, causing very severe damage to the front, front passenger side quarter panel, and underbody. The driver's airbag deployed. Ray continued to drive nearly 150 yards with a very severely damaged front right tire. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Ronald was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured in the crash. Ray was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Operate without Proof of Insurance. Ray was released pending court.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 8:48 AM, Deputies took a report of a vehicle vs. deer crash that occurred on STH 69, just south of Benkert Road, in the Town of Monroe. Mark L. Krebs, 57, of Monroe, was northbound on STH 69 when two deer entered the highway. The second deer collided with Krebs' pick-up, causing severe passenger side damage to the vehicle. The airbags did not deploy. Krebs did not report any injuries and was wearing his seatbelt. Krebs was able to drive the vehicle from the scene.
At 7:14 P.M., Deputies responded to the W5500 block of CTH H, in the Town of New Glarus, for a vehicle crash. Dean C. Fuchs, 48, New Glarus, was going eastbound on CTH H when he attempted to turn northbound on 2nd Street in the Village of New Glarus. There was fresh pea gravel on the road and Fuchs slid through the intersection and into the northeast ditch. Fuchs received an injury, but declined EMS. He was wearing a seatbelt and there was no airbag deployment. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle, which was left at the scene. Fuchs was arrested for Operate While Under the Influence, 1st Offense, Prohibited Alcohol Concentration and Driver Possessing Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle. Fuchs was released pending court.
