July 27, 2014:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on July 26th, 2014: 

Operating Under the Influence:
At 1:27 AM, Deputies stopped a vehicle in the N2900 block of CTH S, Town of Sylvester, for an equipment violation. Following an investigation, Tom A. Keyser, age 32, of Brodhead, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (4th Offense) and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Keyser was also cited for Operating a Motorcycle Without a Class “M” endorsement and Improper Tail Lamp color. Keyser was jailed pending cash bond or court.
 
Operating Under the Influence Crash:
At 3:02 AM, Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash in the W8700 block of Sawmill Road, in the Town of York. The vehicle was eastbound when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle hit a tree, traveled down an embankment, and became stuck in the ditch. The vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front driver's side quarter panel from grazing a tree' there was no airbag deployment. The occupants had left the scene without reporting the crash. The driver, Herbert W. Huff, age 24, and his passenger, Deuandre M. Jones, age 38, both of New Glarus, were eventually located. Both reported wearing their seat belts and were uninjured in the crash. Following an investigation, Huff was arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (1st Offense). Huff was also cited for Failure to Maintain Control of the vehicle, Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Motor Vehicle Crash, Possession of THC, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Huff was released pending court.
 
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 3:02 AM, Deputies located a second motor vehicle crash in the W8700 Block of Sawmill Road, in the Town of York. The investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by Jessica M. Farrar, age 19, of Monroe, was traveling eastbound on Sawmill Road when she failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a fire number sign, a mailbox, and a tree. Farrar left the scene of the accident. She later reported that she was the lone occupant and was not injured in the crash. Seat belt use is unknown; however, Farrar reported she was not injured.  The vehicle sustained very severe damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was impounded. Citations are pending. This crash was not directly related to the previous crash.
 
Operating Under the Influence Crash:
At 5:43 AM, Deputies responded to a vehicle in a pasture on CTH J, 0.5 miles north of STH 81, in the Town of Monroe. The investigation revealed that Jeffrey D. Ritschard, age 52, of Monticello, was traveling northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle slid across both lanes, entered the west ditch, went through a barbed wire fence, into a pasture, and became stuck in some mud. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was not equipped with airbags. Ritschard was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash. Ritschard left the scene without reporting the crash. While Deputies were investigating, Ritschard drove back to the scene operating another vehicle. Ritschard was arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (1st Offense) and cited for Failure to Maintain Control of the Vehicle. Ritschard was later released pending court.
 
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 9:59 PM, Deputies responded to the N9500 block of Peerless Road, in the Town of New Glarus, for a one-vehicle crash with injuries. The investigation revealed that Cassandra M. Trumpy, age 17, of Monticello, was traveling southbound when she failed to negotiate a corner due to dense fog. The vehicle side swiped a power pole, causing severe damage to the vehicle. There was no airbag deployment. Trumpy was wearing a seatbelt and received non-life threatening injuries. Trumpy declined medical attention. Alliant Energy was notified of the power pole.
