The following incidents occurred on August 11, 2014:
Vehicle vs. Deer Crash:
At 5:42 A.M., a Deputy responded to STH 69 at Monroe Road, City of Monroe, for a vehicle vs. deer crash.
Investigation revealed Linda K. Wells, age 69, of Monroe, was northbound on STH 69 when a deer entered the roadway and collided with the vehicle she was operating. Wells and her six passengers were not injured and were properly restrained. There was no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage and was towed from the scene.
At 5:58 A.M., Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on CTH N at Iliff Road, Town of Monroe. Investigation revealed James D. Phillips, age 57, of Monroe, was southbound on CTH N and passed a semi-truck and trailer, operated by Leslie A. Rasmussen, age 59, of Monroe. When Phillips attempted to return to the southbound lane of traffic, his vehicle struck the front bumper of the semi-truck. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and no injuries were reported. No airbags were deployed in either vehicle. The Phillips vehicle sustained moderate passenger side damage and the semi sustained minor front-end damage. Both vehicles were driven from the scene. Phillips was cited for Passing in a No Passing Zone and released pending court.
