The following incidents occurred on August 20, 2014:
At 8:54 A.M., Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on STH 39, at CTH J, Town of York. Investigation revealed Jean M. Massey, age 34, of Darlington, failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign and traveled southbound from CTH J onto STH 39 into the path of an eastbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle was operated by Braydon M. Mahoney, age 24, of Freeport, IL. Mahoney took evasive action and was able to avoid colliding with Massey. Mahoney’s vehicle entered the southbound ditch, struck a power pole, and entered a cornfield where it came to rest. Mahoney was not injured and had been wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Massey was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way from a stop sign and was released pending court.
At 9:39 A.M., Deputies responded to a motorcycle crash on Greenbush Road, near Monroe Sylvester Road, Town of Monroe. Investigation revealed Gavin Scott Baade, age 17, of Brodhead, was westbound and lost control.
The motorcycle entered the ditch where it came to rest. Baade sustained injuries in the crash, but did not seek medical treatment. He was wearing helmet and eye protection. The motorcycle sustained moderate damage and was trailered from the scene.
