The following incidents occurred on December 28, 2015:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 4:06 PM, Deputies, New Glarus Police Department, New Glarus Fire, New Glarus EMS, and Belleville Police Department, responded to the N9600 Block of STH 69, in the Town of New Glarus, for a two-vehicle crash. A vehicle driven by Michael D. Childers, 36, of Winslow, IL, was struck by a vehicle driven by Cory A, Cooper, 32, of Sparta, after he failed to yield the right of way from a driveway. Childers reported that he was having a difficult time leaving the driveway and had entered STH 69 southbound into the path of Cooper’s vehicle. Cooper’s vehicle consisted of a one ton pickup truck, pulling a cattle trailer with 16 cows inside of it, and he was unable to avoid the crash. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene. Childers was transported by EMS to Monroe Clinic ER for injuries sustained in the accident. Cooper reported being uninjured. Both driver's reported wearing seatbelts and there was airbag deployment in the Childers vehicle, but not in the Cooper Vehicle. No cattle were injured.
At 11:20 PM, Deputies observed a vehicle lose control on the snow-covered roadway and get stuck in the ditch on STH 11, near Mt. Hope Road, in the Town of Spring Grove. Upon contact, it was determined that the driver, Raymond E. Yackley, 51, of Janesville, was not injured and there was no damage to his vehicle. Yackley was cited for Operating After Suspension and released pending court.
