January 28, 2016:  Daily News Release

The following incidents were reported on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016:

Traffic Offense:

 

At 12:08 AM, Deputies stopped a vehicle in the N7700 block of STH 69, Town of New Glarus. Raymundo Gutierrez Tapia, 42, of Madison, was cited for Operating While Suspended and Expired Registration. He was released pending court.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury:

 

At 9:01 AM, Deputies, along with Albany Police, Albany Fire Department, Brooklyn EMS, Evansville EMS, and Wisconsin State Patrol, were called to CTH E and CTH EE, Town of Albany, for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.

 

Investigation revealed that a dump truck, driven by Dennis E. Beutel, 45, of Monroe, was northbound on CTH E when an eastbound vehicle, operated by Jessie L. Hanson, 34, of Monroe, failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign and struck the dump truck.

 

Beutel was wearing his seat belt and the dump truck was not equipped with air bags. Beutel was transported by EMS to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Hanson was wearing a seat belt and the air bags deployed in the vehicle. Hanson was transported by EMS to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.  

 

The vehicle that Hanson was operating sustained very severe damage and was towed from the scene. The dump truck sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. The case remains under investigation.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash – Hit & Run:

 

At 3:50 PM, Deputies responded to the N8900 block of Hughes Road, Town of Exeter, for a hit and run crash. It appeared that a northbound vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. It also appeared that the crash occurred between 7:30 PM on January 26th and 7:30 AM on January 27th. The suspect vehicle appeared to be dark blue in color and would have front, driver-side damage. Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 12:08 AM, Deputies responded to the W9000 block of CTH C, Town of Adams, for a car vs. deer crash. Hayley S. Saalsaa, 43, of Argyle, was traveling east when a deer entered the roadway and collided with her vehicle.  Saalsaa advised she was wearing her seat belt and was not injured. There was no air bag deployment in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained moderate, front-passenger-side damage and was driven from the scene. 

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 6:47 PM, Deputies responded to the N4000 block of CTH J, Town of Monroe, for a vehicle vs. fence. Garrett P. Gogin, 17, of Monroe, was southbound on CTH J when his truck left the roadway and struck a fence. Gogin was not injured and was wearing his seat belt. The air bags did not deploy. The truck sustained very minor damage and was driven from the scene. Gogin was cited for Inattentive Driving and was released pending court.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 8:38 PM, Deputies responded to the W400 block of Bump Road, Town of Albany, for a vehicle versus power pole. Angela M. Millard, 42, of Brodhead, was going eastbound when she went through a snow drift, causing her to lose control. The vehicle went into the south ditch where it collided with a power pole. Millard was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was left at the scene until it could be towed at a later date. Alliant Energy responded to the scene to check on the pole due to a nearby residence losing power. The Albany Police Department assisted at the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 9:04 PM, Deputies, along with the Brooklyn EMS and Brooklyn Fire Department, responded to the N8300 block of STH 104, Town of Brooklyn, for a vehicle vs. utility pole.

 

Luis Torres, 29, of Madison, was northbound on STH 104 when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the ditch and struck a utility pole. Torres was not injured and was wearing his seat belt. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Torres was cited for Failure to Maintain Control, No Valid Driver's License, and No Insurance.

 

A second vehicle, not involved in the crash, arrived on scene and the driver was identified as Alberto J. Escobar, 43, of Madison. Escobar was cited for No Valid Driver's License. Both Torres and Escobar were released pending court.
