Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 8:22 AM, the Brodhead Police Department reported a damaged vehicle had been located at the parking area for the trail head for Pearl Island on Decatur Road. The vehicle had the plates removed and the VIN covered with a torn cigarette pack. Investigation revealed on Sunday, 04/17/16, at approximately 11:45 PM, Jordan E. Rowley, age 20, of Footville, was operating westbound in the W600 block of Decatur Road, Town of Decatur, when she reported hitting some gravel, overcorrecting and losing control. The driver's side of the vehicle struck the southeast side of the bridge rail, the vehicle slid across the bridge and struck the north side of the bridge rail and slid back across the bridge, where the front of the vehicle struck the southwest side of the bridge rail. Rowley was not injured, could not remember if she was wearing a seatbelt, and the vehicle's airbags did deploy. The vehicle sustained severe damage. Rowley drove to the parking area and contacted Paige Connolly, age 20, of Brodhead, to pick her up. They returned to the vehicle, at Connolly's suggestion, removed the plates, and covered the VIN with the cigarette box. Rowley attempted to report the vehicle stolen to Brodhead, but ultimately admitted to being the operator and sole occupant during the crash. Rowley was cited for Failure of Operator to Notify Police of an Accident and Failure to Have Vehicle Under Control. Connolly was cited for Knowingly Assist a Person Fleeing an Accident. Both were released pending court. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
