September 28, 2016:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred September 27, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 11:55 AM, Deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of a vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of STH 11 and Cadiz Springs Road, in the Town of Cadiz. Investigation revealed that a semi-tractor/trailer unit was traveling east on STH 11 when the driver looked down to pick up a drink and the vehicle went off the south side of the road and into the ditch.  Semi-tractor/trailer continued traveling east and crossed Cadiz Springs Road, then struck a stop sign, posts, and a road name sign before continuing eastbound in the ditch and then struck an embankment, causing the semi-tractor/trailer to overturn onto its side. The driver of the semi-tractor/trailer unit was identified as Jeffrey M. Girard, 32, of Elk Point, South Dakota. Girard was not injured in the accident and was wearing a seatbelt. No airbags were deployed in his semi-tractor. The semi-tractor/trailer unit involved in the accident sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. The Browntown Fire Department, South Wayne Fire Department, and Monroe Fire Department, as well as the Green County Highway Department, all assisted at the scene and with traffic control and with removal of contents of the semi-trailer. STH Highway 11 was partially blocked and was later diverted in order to remove the semi-tractor/trailer and the contents in the trailer. An inspector with the Wisconsin State patrol also assisted at the scene with crash investigation and inspection. Girard was cited for Inattentive Driving and released pending court.

Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 4:08 PM, Deputies, Monroe EMS, South Wayne Fire Department and Monroe Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle vs. guard rail accident in the W7800 block of CTH Y in the Town of Jordan. Investigation revealed that Samantha L. Keene, 17, of Argyle, was traveling eastbound on CTH Y when she entered the south shoulder of the roadway, lost control of her vehicle, which struck a guard rail, and came to a rest in the north ditch. Keene was transported to the Monroe Clinic ER for injuries. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage and both front air bags deployed.  Keene reported wearing her seat belt. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Keene was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of Vehicle.
