October 02, 2016:  Daily News Release

The following incidents were reported on Saturday, October 1st, 2016:

Traffic Offense:


At 12:06 AM, Deputies responded to a report of a truck that went through a fence in the N4500 CTH J, Town of Monroe. Investigation revealed that Hugo Hernandez Herrera, 35, of Monroe, was southbound on CTH J when he swerved to avoid colliding with a deer and went through a fence. Hernandez Herrera was cited for Operating After Suspension and was released pending court.

Operating While Under the Influence:


At 3:21 AM, Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the W4500 Block of STH 59, Town of Monroe. Investigation resulted in Mikala L. McKee, 26, of Monroe, being arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (alcohol) 1st Offense. McKee was also cited for Operating Left of Center, and Operating with Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. McKee was released pending court.


Motor Vehicle Crash/OWI:


At 4:47 AM, Deputies responded to the W9000 block of STH 11, Town of Cadiz, for a motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Benjamin T. Stauffacher, 24, of South Wayne, was traveling west on STH 11 when he reported that a raccoon ran into the road. Stauffacher reported that he swerved to miss the raccoon; then his vehicle went down an embankment and struck several small trees.


Stauffacher was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. No airbags were deployed in his vehicle. Stauffacher's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.


Stauffacher was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence (alcohol) 1st Offense, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, and with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration. Stauffacher was released pending court.


Motor Vehicle Crash:


At 9:43 AM, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 11, at County Highway GG, Town of Spring Grove, for a one-vehicle crash.


Investigation revealed Travis L. Schoen, 42, of Beloit, was eastbound on State Highway 11 when he struck a Road Closed sign in the turn lane for State Highway 81. Schoen was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries. The air bags did not deploy in his vehicle. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was left on scene.
