 ·  Jordan J. Rice:  N1300 Block of STH 69

Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 11:41 AM, Green County Deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, Brodhead EMS, Brodhead Fire, and Green County Highway Department responded to the W1100 block of STH 11, Town of Spring Grove, for a minivan vs, semi-tractor trailer crash with injuries. Investigation revealed Norman E. Howe, age 85, of Monroe, was operating a minivan, pulling out from the Brodhead Veterinary Clinic to turn west onto STH 11. Howe pulled into the path of an eastbound semi unit. The driver of the semi unit attempted to take evasive action, however the two vehicles collided. The semi unit traveled off of the north side of the road and struck two mailboxes before coming to rest, facing east. The minivan came to rest in the westbound lane, facing south. The driver of the semi unit was identified as Michael A. Huff, age 40, of Sharon, WI. Huff claimed no injuries and reported wearing his seatbelt. Norman Howe reported wearing his seatbelt and was transported for treatment of injuries. His passenger, Joan E. Howe, 77, of Monroe, reported an injury from the seatbelt, but no other injuries.  Norman Howe and Joan Howe both were transported to MCER. The minivan sustained severe damage, with no airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene. The semi unit sustained moderate damage, with no airbag deployment, and was towed from the ditch.  A post-crash inspection was completed and the semi unit was able to be removed from the inspection site under its own power. The westbound lane of STH 11 was closed for approximately two hours.  Norman Howe will be cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
