December 15, 2016:  Daily News Release

The following incidents were reported on Wednesday, December 14th, 2016:

 

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 12:00 AM, Deputies responded to a car vs. power pole crash at the intersection of Meyers Road and Burkhalter Road, in the Town of Sylvester.

Anthony M. Arndt, 18, of Monroe, was traveling south on Meyers Road when he attempted to turn east onto Burkhalter Road.  Arndt lost control of the vehicle due to bald tires and the ice-covered roadway. The vehicle collided with a power pole guy wire in the south ditch. Arndt reported wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the collision. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash:

At 1:43 AM, Deputies responded to the W6600 block of Legler Valley Road, Town of New Glarus, for a truck vs. tree crash and the driver left the scene.

The driver was identified as Larry G. Moldenhauer, 51, of New Glarus. Moldenhauer reported that at approximately 6:30 PM on December 13th, he was westbound and sped up to make it up the ice-covered hill when he lost control, entered the ditch and collided with a tree. Moldenhauer stated he was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle had severe damage and remained on scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury:

At 12:01 PM, Deputies, along with Monroe Fire and Green County EMS, responded to the intersection of CTH K and 18th Street,. Town of Clarno for a car vs. semi crash.

 

Frank T. Cone, 51, of Brodhead, was northbound on CTH K when Betty L. Lorfield, 80, of Winnebago, IL failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign on 18th Street and collided with Cone's semi trailer. Lorfield had a passenger in her vehicle, Helen E. Fahrney, 98, of Monroe. Fahrney was injured in the crash and was transported by EMS to a local hospital. Neither Cone nor Lorfield were injured in the crash. All subjects were wearing seat belts and there was no airbag deployment in either vehicle. Lorfield's vehicle sustained severe front damage and was towed from the scene. There was minor damage to Cone's semi and it was driven from the scene. Lorfield was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign and was released pending court.

Motor Vehicle Crash:

At 4:01 PM deputies responded to the W2200 block of CTH SS, Town of Decatur, for a one vehicle crash. Lauren A. Metcalf, 24, of Milton, was eastbound on CTH SS when she failed to negotiate a curve due to the snow/ice covered roadway, entered the ditch and collided with a fence.

 

Metcalf advised she was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. There was no air bag deployment in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
