The following incidents occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2017:
At 1:49 PM, Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding in the W8000 block of CTH B, Town of Cadiz. Investigation resulted in Brigitte Elet, 57, of Monroe, being cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Suspended (1st Offense). Elet was released pending court.
Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury:
At 3:40 PM, Deputies responded to the intersection of CTH M at CTH Y, Town of Jordan, for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Reesan R. J. Ruch, 18, of South Wayne, was going northbound on CTH M and was following a vehicle that was operated by Maria Nickl Dayton, 49, of Argyle. Nickl Dayton started to slow down in order to turn onto CTH Y, but Ruch did not realize Nickl Dayton had stopped, so he swerved to the shoulder to avoid colliding with her, but still struck Nickl Dayton’s vehicle.
Ruch was wearing his seat belt and the air bags deployed in his vehicle. Ruch was injured in the crash, but declined EMS. Nickl Dayton was wearing a seat belt and the air bags did not deploy in her vehicle. Nickl Dayton was injured in the crash, but declined EMS. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Nickl Dayton’s vehicle was driven from the scene. Ruch's vehicle was towed from the scene.
At 11:09 PM, Deputies, Belleville PD, and Brooklyn EMS and First Response responded to a residence in the W1800 block of STH 92, Town of Brooklyn. Investigation resulted in Olivia M. Johnson, 31, of Brooklyn, being arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting an Officer. Johnson was jailed pending bond or court.
Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury/Disorderly Conduct:
On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 7:54 PM, Deputies, along with Brodhead Police, responded to the W1500 block of Ten Eyck Road, Town of Decatur, for a one-vehicle crash where the driver left the scene. Deputies were later able to make contact with the driver, Michael A. Smiley, 31, of Monticello. Smiley was traveling west when he failed to negotiate the curve and collided with an embankment. Smiley was wearing his seat belt and the air bags deployed in the vehicle. Smiley was injured in the crash. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Investigation resulted in Smiley being arrested for Disorderly Conduct while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting an Officer, and Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon. Smiley was also cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions, Failure to Report Motor Vehicle Crash, and No Insurance. Smiley was jailed pending court. The Monticello Police Department assisted with the case.
