February 25, 2017:  Daily News Release

The following incidents occurred on Friday, February 24, 2017:

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 2:51 PM, Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash in the W5900 block of CTH C, Town of Washington. Tyler J. Adams, 17, of Monticello, was going westbound on CTH C when he stated an eastbound vehicle started to operate into his lane of traffic. Adams swerved into the ditch to avoid a collision. Adams was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. There was no airbag deployment. The car sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The vehicle that crossed over into the other lane was described as tan in color and something similar to an early 1990’s Buick.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 4:51 PM, Deputies came upon a one-vehicle crash in the W5600 block of STH 11, Town of Monroe. Jason J. Gough, 35, of Monroe, was going westbound on STH 11 when he went lost control of his vehicle due to ice on the road and struck a guard rail. Gough was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. There was no airbag deployment. The truck sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 5:27 PM, Deputies responded to the N3000 block of STH 81, Town of Monroe, for a one-vehicle crash. Joseph W. Cook, 20, of Monroe, was going westbound on STH 81 when he lost control of his vehicle due to ice on the road. Cook’s truck went over a concrete median and across the eastbound lanes of traffic, where he struck a highway sign. Cook was not injured and was wearing his seat belt. There was no airbag deployment. The truck sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 5:45 PM, Deputies responded to the intersection of STH 81 & STH 11, Town of Monroe, for a three-vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed that Roberta A. Bell, 67, of Monroe, was traveling north on STH 81 and was attempting to turn west onto the entrance ramp to STH 11 when she lost control due to an ice-covered roadway. Jennifer L. Jayne, 39, of Blanchardville, was following Bell’s vehicle and also lost control due to the ice-covered road and collided with Bell’s vehicle. A third vehicle was northbound on STH 81 and was operated by Michelle M. Weiss, 39, of Monroe. Weiss’ vehicle collided with Jayne’s vehicle.

 

All of the drivers reported wearing seat belts and were not injured in the crash. There was no air bag deployment in any of the vehicles. Bell's vehicle sustained minor damage and was towed from the scene. Jayne’s vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Weiss’ vehicle sustained minor damage. Weiss’ vehicle was towed from the ditch and then driven from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury:

 

At 6:01 PM, Deputies, along with New Glarus Fire, New Glarus EMS, and New Glarus Police responded to a one-vehicle crash with injuries in the N9000 block of CTH O, Town of New Glarus. Investigation revealed that Elizabeth A. Woerpel, 17, of New Glarus, was southbound on County Hwy O when she lost control of the vehicle due to the ice-covered road. Woerpel’s vehicle entered the ditch, where it overturned. Woerpel was extricated from the vehicle.   Woerpel was injured in the crash and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.  Woerpel was wearing her seatbelt and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 6:19 PM, Deputies and the Belleville Police Department investigated a one-vehicle crash in the N7400 block of CTH D, Town of Exeter. Duane K. Nonn, 57, of Brooklyn, was going northbound on CTH D when he lost control of his vehicle due to the ice-covered road. Nonn’s vehicle entered the ditch, where it overturned. Nonn was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. There was no air bag deployment. The truck sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury:

 

At 7:57 PM, Deputies, along with Monroe Fire Department and Green County EMS, responded to the W5400 block of Town Center Road, Town of Clarno, for a one-vehicle crash with injuries. Krista M. Bethke, 46, of Juda, was going eastbound on Town Center Road when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway. The vehicle went into the ditch, where it ran over a culvert and overturned. Bethke and her 9-year-old passenger, Annelise G. Bethke, of Juda, were extricated from the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts and the air bags did not deploy. Both the driver and passenger were transported by EMS to a local hospital for injuries sustained in crash. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
