The following incidents occurred on Saturday, March 4th, 2017:

Motor Vehicle Crash:


At 3:08 AM, Deputies responded to the N8800 block of STH 69, Town of New Glarus, for a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Benjamin N. McRoberts, 20, of New Glarus, was northbound on STH 69 when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway, struck a stop sign and road sign, and entered the ditch. McRoberts reported no injuries and was wearing a seatbelt. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle received minor damage and was towed out of the ditch and then driven from the scene.


Motor Vehicle Crash:


At 5:19 AM, Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash in the N6400 block of STH 69, Town of Mt Pleasant. Investigation revealed that Brittany C. Sandlin, 32, of Monticello, was northbound on STH 69 when she lost control of her vehicle and slid into a guard rail. Sandlin was not injured and was wearing her seat belt. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.


Motor Vehicle Crash:


At 12:32 PM, Deputies responded to the N1500 block of Jeffery Road, Town of Clarno, for a property damage crash. Investigation revealed that Melvin P. Troxell, 81, of Lena, IL, was backing up onto the west shoulder of the road and struck an unoccupied vehicle parked along the roadway. Troxell was not injured, was wearing a seatbelt, and there was no airbag deployment. There was no damage to Troxell’s truck. The vehicle that was parked along the road sustained very minor damage and there was no airbag deployment.  Both vehicles were driven from the scene.


Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury:


At 2:36 PM, Deputies, along with Belleville Police, Fire and EMS, responded to a one-vehicle crash in the N7900 block of CTH X, Town of Exeter.  Investigation revealed that a motorcycle, operated by Justin M. Yaun, 16, of Belleville, was southbound on CTH X when he lost control and entered the ditch. Yaun then traveled through a barbed wire fence and overturned in a field.  Yaun was wearing a helmet and protective riding gear.  Yaun was injured in the crash and was flown to UW-Hospital by Med Flight.  The motorcycle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.  Yaun was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle and was released pending court.  It appears that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.


Traffic Offense:


At 5:01 PM, Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding in the N4400 block of CTH N, Town of Monroe. Matthew D. Smith, 33, of Hamler, Ohio, was cited for Operating Without a Valid Driver’s License. Smith was released pending court.
