The following incidents occurred on Tuesday, April 11, 2017:

Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury:

 

At 11:52 AM, Deputies, along with the Albany EMS, Albany Fire Department, Evansville Fire Department, and Evansville EMS, responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash in the N6000 block of STH 59, Town of Albany. Investigation revealed that Marcus J. Washington, 25, of Chicago, IL, was southbound on STH 59 when he became distracted from an argument over a GPS location.  The vehicle entered the gravel shoulder and then Washington overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to overturn several times.

 

Marcus Washington was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Marcus Washington was injured in the crash and was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Janesville. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Chanel M. Washington, 20, of Freeport, IL. Chanel Washington was not wearing a seat belt and was injured in the crash. Chanel Washington was transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville. A second passenger in the vehicle was identified as Justin M. Washington, 26, of Chicago. Justin Washington was not wearing a seat belt and was injured in the crash. Justin Washington was transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

 

The air bags did not deploy in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. The case remains under investigation.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury:

 

At 12:27 PM, Deputies, along with Brodhead Fire Department, Brodhead EMS, and Brodhead Police Department, responded to the W700 block of Ten Eyck Road, Town of Decatur, for a one-vehicle crash with injuries.

 

Investigation revealed that Sam R. Gieken, 16, of Brodhead, was eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the ditch, and struck an embankment. Gieken reported wearing his seat belt and the air bags did not deploy. Gieken was injured in the crash and was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Janesville. The vehicle received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

 

At 3:35 PM, Deputies and the Brodhead Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at the southern intersection of CTH E and Golf Course Road, in the Town of Decatur. Investigation revealed Charlayna R. DeVoe, 18, of Monroe, was preparing to turn left onto Golf Course Road from CTH E when her truck experienced a mechanical steering failure, causing her to be unable to control the path of her vehicle. DeVoe’s truck collided with a vehicle that was operated by Tess C. M. Pinnow, 17, of Brodhead. Pinnow had been stopped at the stop sign on Golf Course Road and was pulling out to make a right turn onto CTH E when the crash occurred. DeVoe and Pinnow reported seatbelt usage and no injuries. Both vehicles sustained severe damage, with no airbag deployment, and were towed from the scene.

 

Traffic Offense:

 

At 11:54 PM, Deputies stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of 9th St., in the City of Monroe. Robert J. Strong, 30, of Monroe, was cited for Operating After Suspension and No Proof of Insurance. Strong was released pending court.
