The following incidents were reported on Monday, May 1, 2017:
Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage:
At 11:30 a.m., Deputies responded to the N5800 block of STH 69, Town of Washington, for a crash involving a dump truck vs. a pickup truck. Jerry W. Schooff, 61, was operating a Green County Highway Dept. dump truck, laying gravel. David C. Kruser, 81, of Hazel Green, was stopped in traffic to let Schooff complete a backing maneuver. Schooff did not see Kruser stopped in traffic and backed into Kruser.
The Highway Dept. vehicle sustained very minor damage to the rear salting unit. Kruser’s vehicle sustained moderate front-end and right corner panel damage. Both units were driven from the scene. Both drivers reported wearing seatbelts and were uninjured. There was no airbag deployment.
At 2:37 p.m., Deputies stopped Waled Alferej, 49, Waunakee, for Speeding in the N7800 block of STH 69, Town of New Glarus. Alferej was cited for 72/55mph, and for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Suspended-First Offense. He was released pending a court date.
At 4:56 PM, Deputies arrested Matthew W. Schmid, 36, of Monroe, at his residence in the 1600 block of 12th Street, City of Monroe. Schmid was booked into jail on an Albany Police warrant for Failure to Pay Fine. Schmid was held pending bond.
