The following incidents occurred on Friday, July 14th, 2017:
At 3:10 PM, Deputies, Monticello Police Department, Monticello Fire, and Green County EMS responded to the N5900 block of STH 69, Town of Mt. Pleasant, for a farm tractor accident. Investigation revealed that Curtis A. Sheldon, 20, of Stoughton, was northbound, operating a farm tractor pulling a hay merger, when a mechanical failure occurred in the hay merger. Sheldon was not wearing a seat belt, was injured in the accident, and was treated at the scene by Green County EMS. Sheldon declined to be transported. The hay merger had severe damage to it and the tractor received moderate damage.
The farm tractor and hay merger were removed from the roadway and parked in a field. The Green County Highway Department responded to the scene as the roadway was damaged.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 6:41 PM, Deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of CTH G and Town Center Road, Town of Spring
Grove. Investigation revealed that Logyn J. Steinmann, 17, of Juda, was westbound on Town Center Road when she failed
to yield the right of way from a stop sign and collided with a southbound vehicle on CTH G that was operated by Amy L. Poust,
46, of Belvidere, IL. Steinman’s vehicle then collided with an eastbound vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign on Town
Center Rd. that was operated by Elizabeth A. Ekum- Jackson, 27, of Monroe.
Steinman was not injured in the crash and was wearing her seat belt. The air bags did not deploy in her vehicle. Steinman’s vehicle had minor damage to it and was towed from the scene.
Poust was not injured in the crash and was wearing her seat belt. The air bags deployed in her vehicle. Poust’s vehicle had severe damage and was towed from the scene.
Ekum-Jackson was not injured in the crash and was wearing her seat belt. The air bags did not deploy in the vehicle. The vehicle had minor damage and was driven from the scene. Steinmann was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign and was released pending court.
