September 16, 2017:  Daily News Release

The following incidents were reported on Friday, September 15, 2017:

 

Motor Vehicle Crash:

At approximately 5:31 a.m., Deputies responded to the N5000 block of STH 104, in the Town of Albany, for a report of a one-vehicle accident.  Investigation revealed that Levi J. Rundle, 21, of Albany, WI, was operating a vehicle and was traveling westbound on CTH B in Rock County when he failed to stop at a stop sign.  Rundle then traveled down an embankment in the N5000 block of STH 104 in Green County.

Rundle reported wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries, but declined medical attention at the scene.  Rundle’s vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and the air bags did deploy.    

Rundle will be cited for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and for Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle.

The Brodhead Police Department assisted at the scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash:

At approximately 2:04 p.m., Deputies and Monroe Police responded to the area of STH 11 and the West 6th Avenue off ramp, in the Town of Monroe, for a report of a motor vehicle accident.  Investigation revealed that a 2007 red Freightliner semi-tractor trailer unit was westbound on STH 11 and was attempting to merge onto the off ramp to West 6th Ave., when two vehicles pulled in front of the semi unit, causing the driver to hit his brakes heavily.  The cargo load on the trailer contained vehicles, and from the application of the brakes, one of the vehicles on the trailer came loose and rolled forward, partially off the trailer. The driver continued to drive the semi-tractor trailer unit, and the vehicle that came loose then struck the semi-tractor.

The driver of the semi unit was identified as LaShunn A. Townsend, 43, of Hazel Crest, ILTownsend reported wearing his seat belt and no injuries were reported.  The air bags did not deploy.

Al’s and Don’s Towing responded to the scene.  The trailer and cargo were towed from the scene.  A Post Crash Inspection was completed and Townsend was warned for Log Book Violations and for Failure to Secure Load.  The trailer was placed out of service.

Traffic Offense:

At approximately 6:39 p.m., Deputies cited Joey P. Diaz Barnett, 20, of Albany, WI, for Operate without a Valid License and Unauthorized Display of Plate in the N6500 block of English Settlement Road, in the Town of Albany.
