September 24, 2017:  Daily News Release

The following events occurred on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017:

Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury:

At 8:21 AM, Deputies, Juda Fire, Green County EMS, the Green County Highway Dept., and the WI Dept. of Natural Resources responded to the intersection of State Highway 59 and County Highway SS, Town of Sylvester, for a two-vehicle accident with injuries.

The investigation revealed that a large crane/pump truck was traveling east on State Highway 59 when a car that was stopped at the intersection pulled out into the path of the truck.  The driver of the truck, Cory G. Knouse, age 29, of Monroe, attempted to swerve around the car, but the vehicles collided and the truck overturned onto its side.  Knouse was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the collision. The truck sustained extensive damage; there was no airbag deployment. The truck was towed from the scene. There was a significant amount of diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid spilled, which caused damage to the pavement.

The driver of the car was identified as Christopher M. Lissa, age 42, of Beloit. Lissa was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the collision. Lissa’s passengers were all wearing seatbelts. One passenger, identified as Michelle A. Lissa, age 37, of Beloit, reported minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for treatment. Lissa’s vehicle sustained extensive damage; there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Lissa was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way from a Stop Sign.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury/Operating While Intoxicated:

At 3:06 PM, Deputies, New Glarus EMS, New Glarus Fire, New Glarus Police, Belleville Police, and UW Med-Flight responded the to the W5200 block of County Highway W, Town of New Glarus, for a one-vehicle crash with injuries.

The investigation revealed that Leon B. Brown, age 50, of Milton, was eastbound when he lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a curve. The motorcycle collided with an embankment and ejected the occupants. Leon was not wearing a helmet, but did have on eye protection.  Leon sustained injuries in the crash and was flown by Med-Flight to UW Hospital.  Leon’s passenger, Bobbie S. Brown, age 49, of Milton, was not wearing a helmet, but did have on eye protection. She also sustained injuries in the crash and was flown by Med-Flight to UW Hospital.  Leon was cited for Failure to Maintain Control, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana (25 grams or less).

A second motorcycle, operated by John C. McCarthy, age 66, of Milton, came to the scene. Following an investigation, John was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st Offense. He was released to a responsible party.
