At 3:24 p.m., Deputies responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the W8900 block of STH 11, Town of Cadiz. Cynthia L. Jackson, 58, Browntown, was traveling westbound on STH 11 and began to slow her vehicle in anticipation of a vehicle turning left onto Foundry Road. A second vehicle, also traveling westbound behind Jackson, was operated by Danielle M. Williams, 27, Nora, IL. Williams observed Jackson's vehicle slow down and slowed her vehicle as well. The third vehicle, operated by Robert J. Lehman, 30, South Wayne, failed to brake in time to avoid William's vehicle. This set off a chain reaction: Lehman rear-ended Williams’ vehicle, Williams’ vehicle rear-ended Jackson’s vehicle.
Lehman's vehicle suffered severe front end damage and was towed from the scene. Lehman reported wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did deploy. Williams’ vehicle suffered severe damage to the rear, and minor damage to the front, and was towed from the scene. Williams reported wearing her seatbelt, and there was no airbag deployment. Jackson's vehicle suffered minor rear-end damage, and was towed from the scene. Jackson reported wearing her seatbelt, and there was no airbag deployment.
Jackson requested medical assistance and was transported to an area hospital by EMS. No citations were issued due to conflicting information received at the scene.
