October 06, 2017:  SHERIFF'S SPECIAL NEWS RELEASE

On Thursday, October 5, 2017 at approximately 5:15 PM, the Stateline Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) executed a search warrant in the 2600 block of 12th Ave., in the City of Monroe. Acting on intelligence, officers were able to determine that the single-family residence was a source of the illicit manufacture of methamphetamine. Consequently, the home was entered and its occupant, Ethan David Studer (age 21), was taken into custody. The search resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and the necessary equipment and materials for its production. Because of the hazardous materials, the Monroe Fire Department was summoned to assist with decontamination of the suspect before transport to the County Jail. The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation furnished assistance with the collection of evidence and decontamination of the scene.

Ethan Studer has been initially charged with multiple felonies consisting of: Possession of Methamphetamine; Manufacture of Methamphetamine; Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials; Possession of Methamphetamine Waste; Possession of Methamphetamine Paraphernalia; Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, as well as misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Studer will remain in custody of the Sheriff pending arraignment in Green County Circuit Court.

Tactical support was provided by the Monroe Police Department ERT, Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office ERT, and the Green County Sheriff’s Office SRT.

The Sheriff reminds the public that criminal charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

(*SLANT is an interagency drug task force composed of officers from the following agencies: Illinois State Police, Monroe Police, Green County Sheriff, Lafayette County Sheriff, Ogle County Sheriff, JoDaviess County Sheriff, Freeport Police, Loves Park Police, and Rochelle Police.)

Authorized by:  Sheriff Mark A. Rohloff
