November 23, 2017:  Daily News Release

The following events occurred on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017:

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage:

At 4:53 AM, Deputies responded to the W2100 block of County Highway SS, in the Town of Decatur, for a single motor vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that Steven R. Stettler, age 62, of Brodhead, was eastbound when he swerved to miss a deer. Steven lost control of the vehicle, struck a fence, and came to rest in a field. The vehicle sustained disabling damage; there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Steven reported wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Steven was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle. The owner of the fence was notifed.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury:

At 5:52 PM, Deputies responded to the W600 block State Highway 59, in the Town of Albany, for a car versus deer collision with injuries. Pamela S. Abey, age 62, of Evansville, was traveling east when a deer collided with the front of her vehicle. Pamela reported wearing a seatbelt and her airbag deployed. Pamela refused treatment for minor injuries sustained in the collision. The vehicle sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed from the scene. The deer was killed in the collision.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage:

At 10:27 PM, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 81 and County Highway N, in the Town of Monroe, for a two-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Steven D. Tree, age 48, of Argyle, was westbound on State Highway 81 when a vehicle operated by John F. Winters, age 86, of Madison, pulled out from the stop sign and collided with Tree’s vehicle. None of the occupants of the vehicles were injured and all reported wearing their seatbelts. Winters’ vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage and the airbags did not deploy. Tree’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and there was airbag deployment. Winters drove his vehicle from the scene.  Tree parked his vehicle at a nearby residence and would get the vehicle the next day. Tree was cited for No Insurance and Winters was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way from a Stop Sign.
