December 10, 2017: Daily News Release
The following incidents occurred on Saturday, December 9th, 2017:
At 5:17 AM, Deputies located tire tracks leading off the roadway in the N600 Block of State Highway 69, Town of Clarno. A damaged mailbox and post were located at the scene. The offending vehicle or identifying vehicle information was not located at the scene. Deputies made contact with the owner. The case is pending further information.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 7:30 AM, Deputies responded to the W8700 block of STH 81 (at the intersection of STH 81 and CTH M North) in Jordan Township for a hit and run crash. Green County Highway Department reported that a utility pole had been damaged.
An investigation into the incident revealed that sometime overnight an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on CTH M and failed to stop at the stop sign. The vehicle then traveled in a southwest direction across STH 81, entered the south ditch, and struck the power pole.
The offending vehicle then fled the scene without reporting the incident. No paint transfer was located on the pole and no vehicle parts were left at the scene to identify the vehicle. Due to the steep grade of the embankment, the offending vehicle would have been towed/pulled from the ditch. At the time of this release, the occupants of the vehicle were unknown and a Facebook post will be made requesting the public's assistance in locating the offending vehicle.
At 8:05 AM, Deputies arrested Allen S. Bechtolt, 33, of Monroe, for two Failure to Pay Fine warrants issued by the Monroe Police Department. The arrest went without incident. Bechtolt was held at the Green County Jail, pending serving his sentence or posted bond.
