January 03, 2018:  Daily News Release

The following incidents were reported on Tuesday, January 2, 2018:

Warrant Arrest:

At 4:50 AM, Anthony A. Nickel, 37, of Pearl City, IL, turned himself at the Green County Sheriff's Office on two child support warrants through Green County. Nickel was jailed.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Injury:

At 6:41 AM, Deputies were called to a vehicle vs. tree in the N9400 block of Benson Rd., in the Town of Brooklyn.  Cory J. Xander, 42, Brooklyn, was northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the west ditch, striking an embankment and then a tree.  Xander fled the scene and was located later by Deputies.  Xander reported wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  There was no airbag deployment, and the vehicle sustained disabling damage.  It was towed from the scene.

Xander was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle, and Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of an Accident.  He was released pending a court appearance.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage:

At 7:46 AM, Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash in the N2700 block of Pine Tree Rd., in the Town of Jordan.  Natasha Lynn Hagen, 28, Browntown, was northbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow/ice-covered roadway. The vehicle entered the east ditch, where it collided with the frozen snow and came to rest. Hagen reported wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured.  There was no airbag deployment.  The vehicle sustained disabling undercarriage damage and was towed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage:

At 9:10 AM, Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash in the W3900 block of STH 11, in the Town of Sylvester.  Noah S. Dedrick, 38, Brodhead, was westbound in the right lane and a second westbound vehicle, operated by Christian Estrada, 21, Chicago, IL, was also operating in the right lane behind Dedrick.  Estrada attempted to get into the left lane to pass the Dedrick vehicle when he rear-ended/sideswiped the Dedrick vehicle.

Both parties reported wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured. There was no airbag deployment in either vehicle.  Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Dedrick was able to drive his vehicle from the scene. Estrada’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Hit and Run:

At 4:24 PM, Deputies responded to a hit-and-run crash in the N4400 block of CTH J, in the Town of Monroe.  An SUV driven by Mark L. Tollakson, 66, Argyle, was northbound when a passenger van traveling southbound crossed the centerline and collided with his vehicle. The van's driver did not stop.  Tollakson reported wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.  There was no airbag deployment. Tollakson's vehicle sustained minor damage to the mirror. The suspect vehicle was believed to be a tan older van.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
