The following incidents occurred on Tuesday, February 6th, 2018:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 8:03 AM, Deputies were called to the intersection of CTH N and STH 81, Town of Monroe, for a two-vehicle crash with no injuries.
The investigation revealed the driver, identified as Philip N. Mazahreh, 39, of Monroe, was stopped at the stop sign of CTH N at the south intersection. There was also a passenger in Philip’s vehicle. Philip proceeded through the intersection, did not see an eastbound vehicle, and was struck.
Philip’s vehicle sustained no damage; however, the trailer that he was pulling sustained moderate damage. The trailer was drivable and was removed from the scene by Philip. Philip and his passenger were both wearing seatbelts, were not injured in the crash, and the airbags did not deploy in Philip's truck.
The other driver was identified as Julie M. Strandt Goetzinger, 53, of Blue Mounds. She was traveling east on Highway 81 when she observed the truck and trailer pull into the intersection. Julie attempted to stop, but was not able to and struck the trailer.
Julie’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. Julie was wearing a seatbelt and the front airbag deployed, but she was not injured.
Philip was issued a citation for Failure to Yield the Right of Way from a Stop Sign. He was released pending a court date.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At 4:03 PM, Deputies responded to the N8800 block of CTH J, Town of York, for a vehicle vs. mailbox collision. Randy D. Hendrickson, 57, of Argyle, was traveling south when he drifted into the west shoulder. The right side of Randy's vehicle collided with a mailbox. After the collision, Randy stopped and notified the owner.
Randy reported wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the collision. Randy's vehicle sustained moderate damage to the entire right side, but there was no airbag deployment. Randy was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. The mailbox post was broken at the base and Randy made arrangements with the owner for repairs. Randy was warned for failure to maintain control.
At 9:58 PM, Francisco Garcia Gaspar, 36, of Beloit, was stopped for speeding in the W1200 Block of STH 11, Town of Spring Grove. Deputies cited Francisco for Operating While Revoked (revocation due to alcohol/controlled substance/refusal) and warned for speeding and no insurance. Francisco was released pending court.
