On Saturday, February 27, 2010, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Green County Sheriff's Communication Center received a wireless 911 call reporting a vehicle crash in Decatur Township, approximately 1/2 mile west of Brodhead, on Ten Eyck Road. Deputies, along with Brodhead Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined that a 1992 Chevrolet Sports Utility Vehicle was westbound on Ten Eyck Road when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The collision resulted in a small fire that was extinguished by responding officers. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner's office.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and the crash remains under investigation.

This is Green County's first traffic fatality of 2010 and the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
