On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Green County Sheriff’s Department, I welcome you to our newly constructed website. The members of the Sheriff’s Office take great pride in providing dedicated and professional service to all in Green County – whether it is in law enforcement, corrections, the 911 communication center, court security, or in a support staff role.
Sheriff’s Departments in Wisconsin have unique responsibilities that differ from those services provided by municipal law enforcement agencies. These differences are outlined in State Statutes and require the Sheriff’s Departments to provide for the following services:
1) The Sheriff is the custodian of the Jail and is, therefore, responsible for all persons ordered into custody.
2) The Sheriff must tend to the security of the Circuit Courts and, therefore, provides Bailiffs to the Courts.
3) The Sheriff must serve and execute all process, writs, and orders issued or made by lawful authority and delivered to the Sheriff.
In addition, the Sheriff and his/her Deputies shall keep and preserve the peace in the County by responding to investigtions and enforcing traffic laws, and are responsible for transportation of all persons that are in custody. This includes persons arrested in other jurisdictions, warrant arrests, juveniles, and emergency detention commitments.
I am honored to serve the citizens of Green County as your Sheriff for the past eight years. Many things have changed in law enforcement since I became a Deputy Sheriff some 34 years ago, including the way we communicate with the public. Our website is one of those changes, and hopefully, will assist us in providing information.
Thank you for visiting the Green County Sheriff’s Department website.
Your Sheriff,
Randy Roderick
